Strength & Conditioning: Coaching Clinic Session held by Coach Christian Vassallo from Arsenal FC @ Mqabba FC Youth Nursery - 29th December 2017
On Friday 29th December 2017 Mqabba FC coaching staff, senior team and players in the Under 15 to Under 19 categories had the opportunity to attend an intensive and very interesting interactive session on Strength and Conditioning, delivered by Coach Christian Vassallo. Mr Vassallo is a coach of Maltese descent who is currently working with the Arsenal Football Club Academy in the UK.
Coach Christian Vassallo started his football career as player with Rabat Depiro F.C. and, later on, had stints at Crewe Alexandra F.C. before moving to Chasetown F.C. He also played with the Malta National U15, U17 and U19 teams between the years 2006 and 2010. In May 2015 he was honoured with the Loughborough Employability Award from the Loughborough University, and in August 2017 he was awarded the Richard Holmes Emerging Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Year, from the United Kingdom Strength and Conditioning Association (UKSCA).
Thanksgiving Mass - Sunday 1st October 2017
A Thanksgiving mass will be held on Sunday 1st October 2017 at Mqabba Parish Church and will be celebrated by the Mqabba Parish Priest Fr John P Curmi. Mass starts at 10am.
All members and supporters of both Mqabba FC and Mqabba FC Youth Nursery are encouraged to attend.

Mqabba FC Youth Nursery will be organising its Annual Summer BBQ at Mqabba FC Sports & Training Complex. Event kicks off at 8pm on Friday 25th August 2017.
Tickets for the price of €12 (adults) and €8 (kids) are obtainable from the nursery's office or by contact us on email@example.com or 79094462.
We encourage everyone to attend for this fund raising activity.
Important meeting for parents on Wed 23rd August 2017
Mqabba FC Youth Nursery are currently accepting applications from boys and girls born between 2014 and 2001 to join our progressing football nursery.
On registration, members will be requested an original birth certificate, medical consent form (provided by the nursery) and three passport size photos. Children between 6 and 12 years will be registered on the YFA Green passport while players will be registered with MFA once reaching age 12 (Form Q).
Important meeting for parents scheduled on Wednesday 23rd August 2017 @ 5.30pm for U5 (Born 2013/2014), U6 (2012), U7 (2011) and U9 (2009/2010).
Another meeting will be held @ 6.30pm for U11 (Born 2008/2009) till U13 (Born 2005/2006). Meetings will be held at Mqabba FC Hall.

Under 15 & Under 17 preseason kicks off (01/08/2017)
Following the meeting for players held on Monday 31st July 2017, training season kicks off on Tuesday 1st August at 5pm at Mqabba FC Grounds.
Training will be held under the guidance of Headcoach Michael Degiorgio and Coach John Sciberras.
It is of utmost important that all players be on time for training wearing the nursery's kit and bring drinkable water with you Session will last till 6.30pm.
Meeting for U15 & U17 Players (31/07/2017)
An important players' meeting for the U15 and U17 categories will be held prior the commencement of the new season. Meeting will be held at Mqabba FC Hall at 7.15pm on Monday 31st July 2017 while training kicks off on Tuesday 1st August.
Meeting will be delivered by Headcoach Michael Degiorgio and Nursery's Administrator Antoine Sciberras.
All players born 2001 - 2004 are encouraged to attend.
New players who would like to join our growing nursery are also welcome.
First match for the U15 category should be after the first week of September while the U17 competition kicks off on the second week of September. Fixtures still to be issued.

Mqabba FC Youth Nursery appoints New Headcoach
Mqabba FC Youth Nursery has appointed Mr Michael Degiorgio as the new Nursery’s Head Coach.
Considered as an important figure in Maltese football history, Michael Degiorgio is a UEFA A Licence holder and qualified Head Coach. He has been involved in local football for several years, first as player and then as coach, both at senior and youth levels. His professional football career started in 1979 with Ħamrun Spartans FC (1979-1993, 1996-1997 and 2001-2003). During his spell with the Spartans, he played nearly 200 games scoring 16 goals. He also played 85 games for Naxxar Lions FC (1993-1996 and 1997-1999) scoring 6 goals.
Between 1981 and 1993 Michael Degiorgio played 74 games for the Malta senior national team finding the net on 4 occasions. During his successful career, Michael Degiorgio won various local football honours including 4 Premier Division Championships, 6 FA Trophies, 4 Lowenbrau Cups, 4 Super Cups and 1 Super 5 Cup. Although many remember Michael Degiorgio playing as midfielder, at the end of his career played as central defender.
Michael Degiorgio’s most prestigious personal football honour was ‘The Maltese Player of the Year’ award for the 1989/1990 season while playing for Ħamrun Spartans FC.
Following his long career as footballer, Michael Degiorgio studied and started working as football coach with various clubs namely Naxxar Lions FC, Ħamrun Spartans FC, Marsaxlokk FC, Fgura United FC and Kalkara FC. Michael Degiorgio gained experience in youth coaching following his appointment as coach of Malta Under 17. He also worked as Head Coach with Tarxien Rainbows Youth Nursery, Valletta FC Youth Nursery, Kalkara FC Youth Nursery, Naxxar Lions FC Youth Nursery, Gżira United FC Youth Nursery and Fgura United FC Youth Nursery.
During his long experience, Michael Degiorgio has demonstrated positive attitude, commitment and enthusiasm so that the goals of the clubs he worked for were reached. This approach, combined with his leadership traits, propelled the Nursery’s Committee to appoint Michael Degiorgio as Head Coach with the aim to pursue on the strategy and objectives adopted by the Nursery in line with the slogan ‘For the Good of the Young’.
